WELCOME! from your friends at the Picturegoer Film Club. We organize screenings of classic and contemporary films at venues across the Twin Cities; but calling them “just” screenings is perhaps a bit of an understatement. Think of a Picturegoer event as something akin to time travel — stepping back thru the years to experience movies both in and outside their original context.

HOW DOES A PICTUREGOER EVENT WORK?

FIRST, Every event begins with a “pre-show” of vintage elements designed to transport you back to the year of the film’s release. A musical playlist of hits of the time; old theater bumpers and snipes; and a cartoon (because every movie should have a cartoon in front of it).

THEN, we move into an introductory presentation — giving you some behind the scenes stories on the making of the film, backstories on the filmmakers, and some tips on things to keep an eye out for, so that hopefully, even if you’ve seen the movie before, you see something new.

FINALLY, we get to the movie proper — and after the movie’s over, stay tuned for a sneak peek at what our next event will be! We feel confident you’ll want to come back.
